Our lifestyle choices play a big part in our oral health.

We make our mouths work hard for us every day. In general the risks from our diet can be managed successfully by a good oral hygiene regime of brushing twice and flossing once a day and following some basic diet guidelines. However, there are other things that we do like smoking and drinking that can’t be as easily managed and have the potential to cause much more serious and permanent damage to our mouths.

Just finding out the facts about how alcohol and nicotine actually affect our mouths and the consequences that we can expect from prolonged usage is the first step towards being able to make an informed decision on whether to carry on, cut down or quit. Even if the decision is not to quit, you will learn here how to mitigate the effects of alcohol, tobacco and drugs and give yourself the best chance of avoiding their more serious side-effects.
